Ski resort employees who work and play outdoors at high altitude in the snow and sun, need to protect themselves from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. This web site is designed to help you learn how to enjoy the benefits from working in the sun, while minimizing the risks to overexposure to UV radidation.
You can Go Sun Smart at work by doing these things:
- Wear a sunscreen and lip balm of SPF 15 or higher everyday. Remember to reapply every 2 hours.
- Wear protective clothing at all times, including a hat with a brim and sunglasses or goggles.
- Be a good friend – remind your coworkers to go sun smart.
- Keep sunscreen in your locker and tuck a small tube in your pocket. Share it with coworkers if they need to apply or reapply during the da.,
- Be a good employee – remind guests to be sun smart.
- Give simple reminders about wearing sunscreen and sunglasses to people who are purchasing lift tickets, standing in lift lines, riding next to you on lift chairs, or standing in line at cafeteria checkouts.
- Learn and understand the relationship of the sun, high altitude, and snow.
- Check your skin regularly.
